WINEMAKER NIGHT: Amarone, Ripasso and the Legacy of Giovanni Bertani @ Solo Italiano

DETAILS: Meet winemaker Giovanni Bertani, great-grandson of the mind behind Ripasso and Amarone, of Tenuta Santa Maria! He will be in-house to talk about his family's love and use of Recioto and Corvina as well as their traditional, yet innovative, approach to winemaking that produced these iconic styles of wine we know today. 

Seating will occur all night long, with the daily menu designed around the wines on offer. Chef Paolo Laboa will prepare classic Genovese dishes that we all know and love, but be sure to expect traditional Veneto cuisine to pepper the menu as well. Since it is not a pre-fixe menu, you are welcome to eat as much or as little as you’d like–opt for a full family style, five-course affair with a complete flight of Giovanni’s wines or eat light with one course and a glass of wine. The choice is yours! 

This is not a ticketed event, so reservations are strongly encouraged. Feel free to call with any questions.

DETAILS:  Relax and enjoy a casual, intimate evening at Tipo. DETAILS: Drifters Wife Chef Ben Jackson will use the best of local ingredients in Maine to create traditional Portuguese and Azores dishes to pair with wild, volcanic wines from the middle of the Atlantic Ocean! This 3-course (plus amuse and bread) meal will feature exceptional wine pairings from the Azores Wine Company.

Brendan Robb from National Distributors will be joined by Mike Smith from Obrigado Vinhos, who, along with Drifters Wife owners Orenda and Peter Hale, will be on hand to talk about the wines; the uniqueness of terroirs in the Azores, the rare and unusual grapes used, and the minimalist style of the wine growers. Fabuloso!
