WEEKLONG: Blind Tasting Flights & Contest @ MJ's Wine Bar

  • MJ's Wine Bar 1 City Center Portland, ME, 04101 United States (map)

DETAILS: Take your blind tasting skills for a spin! Stop by MJ’s Wine Bar any day during Portland Wine Week for one of two blind tasting flights. Each flight features three wines. Simply challenge yourself and your friends on Tier One (answers revealed onsite) or enter to win MJ’s Tier Two Blind Tasting Contest* (answers and the winner revealed after 10 pm on Sunday, June 24). You'll receive points for correctly identifying grape (2 points), country (2 points), sub region (1 point), and vintage (1 point).

The first flight will be casual and just for fun. The participant will be given a flight of half glasses (3oz) pours and asked to guess the grape, region and year. At the conclusion, if the participant would like to know the answers, we will reveal them. There is no prize, other than delicious wine and some friendly competition, for this tier.

The second tasting will be more involved. The participant will be asked to guess grape, region, sub region and year. The answers will be kept completely secret. At the end of Portland Wine Week, the person who answered with the most correct responses will be awarded a special prize.

The winner of MJs Tier Two Blind Tasting Contest* will receive a gift card to a Portland wine shop, to be announced soon!

COST:
Tier One (beginner):
 $15 per flight
Tier Two (challenging natural wines): $20 per flight

Both blind tastings will be available to everyone throughout the entirety of Portland Wine Week, just stop by during normal hours!
