About Monica Ordóñez
Thirty-two years ago Jorge Ordóñez founded the brokerage company, Fine Estates of Spain to fulfill a hole within the US consumer wine market and would go on to be dubbed the “Pioneer of Awakening Spanish Wines”. As Jorge transitions to the next stage in his career, he passes the torch to his two children, Victor and Monica. Monica Ordóñez, once an Olympic hopeful for the U.S. Women’s Crew team, felt the calling of the family business and joins her brother Victor at the helm of Fine Estates of Spain as the new Director of Operations. Monica is a recent graduate of Cornell University’s Viticulture and Enology program. She grew up in the famous vineyards of Muga, Sierra Cantabria and beyond, learning the history of each family’s beginning in Spain. Armed with her degree in enology and her Father’s passion for Spanish wines, Monica and her brother are reigniting the market once again and maintaining a long tradition of quality wines, along with a fresh outlook for up and coming new regions.
